Remote car bomb, targeting journalists, defused

LANDIKOTAL (ENN) The security forces thwarted a bid to target tribal journalists by defusing a remote control bomb device attached with the car of a tribal journalist in Landikotal bazaar, here on Friday.

An official, on the condition of anonymity, told reporters that unidentified persons in Landikotal had planted a magnetic explosive device with the car of Khalil Jabran, Landikotal Khyber News reporter. It is pertinent to mention that five Landikotal based journalists including Khalil Jabran Afridi, Farhad Shinwari, Imran Khattak, Umar Khan Shinwari and Mehrab Afridi were on the way in a car when the bomb was found planted in the car.

They informed immediately officials and bomb disposal squad defused the bomb.

The security forces later conducted search operation in Landikotal bazaar and arrested several persons on the basis of suspicion. The security forces also took the five journalists to army garrison for investigation.

Meanwhile, tribal journalists from Khyber Agency called an emergency meeting held in Landikotal press club. The meeting was participated by a score of journalists from Jamrud and Landikotal. They condemned the incident demanded the immediate arrest of the  culprits behind the crime.
