USKT welcomes garbage picking children termed students in Sialkot

SIALKOT (By Abid Mehdi) A group of more than 70 under privileged, down-trodden, marginalized and trash picking children-turned-students, visited University of Sialkot (USKT) here, with their high aims, dreams and goals to get education and to serve the nation and the country in a better way in future besides sharing their contribution in national development and prosperity.

Vice Chancellor University of Sialkot Dr. Ejaz Qureshi accorded warm welcome to these nomad students there.

Dr. Qureshi paid tributes to these garbage-picking students, who later became students by focusing on getting education and giving up trash-picking. He termed them the heroes of the society as well.

CEO of University of Sialkot Rehan Younas said that now the time has proved that the proper patronage could also make the nomad, marginalized and under privileged children as the good students and even the useful persons of the society. He said that these children also deserved love, affection, care and positive social aptitude as well.

Chairman University of Sialkot Faisal Manzur pledged to keep the doors of higher education open for these garbage-picking children turned students.

He said that these children were also the heroes of the society as they have indulged into education by giving up their generation-to-generation occupation of picking trash as well.

Kaleem Raza, Director Students Affairs said that the positive social attitude could change the life of everyone.

He said that getting education was also the basic right of such children, which should never be ignored and neglected now by anyone in the society.

These marginalized students visited different departments of this university. They met with the students and faculty members there. They also exchanged their view about the importance of education.

USKT hosted a lavished lunch in honour of these visiting students as well.

Later, an animated movie was also screened out in the USKT Auditorium, as these little students enjoyed this entertainment and honour and regards given them at USKT.

It was learnt that these were the nomad, marginalized, under privileged children, indulged in garbage picking. Some Sialkot based exporters generously donated and brought these down-trodden students towards education by opening the doors of education for them.

The exporters established several schools in and around the Sialkot city for providing free of cost quality education to these children, under the supervision of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
