Landikotal: Happy moments as 17 recovered from Afghan Taliban meet with their families. (ENN)
LANDIKOTAL (ENN) Scores of people on Saturday gathered at Adilkhad village when they heard about the release of the abducted persons after they were handed over by Khyber Rifles officials staying a night at the Khyber Rifles guest house in Landikotal army garrison.
A ceremony in this confection was arranged at Khyber Rifles Jirga hall which was attended by a large number of local elders, political party leaders, and family members of the released persons.
Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi, Political agent of Khyber agency Khalid Mehmood, Commandant Khyber Rifles colonel Farrukh Humayyun, APA Niaz Muhammad, and tehsildar Shamsul Islam were also present on the occasion.
Col, Farrukh congratulated the released persons and their family members on the very happy moment. Col Farrukh gave Rupees 10,000 and sweets to each of the released persons. He said with due efforts from various sides they successfully made possible the safe release of the abducted persons
PA Khalid Mehmood told that 17 persons from the hardcore Afghan Taliban got released. He urged the Landikotal residents, law enforcement agencies and political administration to keep their close liaison with each other to keep the safe and secure.
Bashir Khan, Wahidullah and Akram Sayed, the released persons said they walked by foot for hours long and passed the first night in an open deserted place near the border in Afghanistan. They said they put in an abandoned compound somewhere in Ningrahar. They said for two months they were kept at different localities in Afghanistan. They said they remained for two month in Lalpura hills in Ningrahar and later they were repeatedly shifted inside Kunar province in Afghanistan.
Akram said the abducted persons were several times taken to a private clinic nearby when any of them fall sick. All were kept in single room. “Many times all the militants left them lock in a room they feared drone strikes”, Akram said.
