Long awaited compensation!

SIALKOT (ENN) The grieved families of the three martyred and sixteen injured persons, the victims of the Indian shelling, have been waiting for financial compensation by the government for the last two and half years here in Sialkot border villages.

The grieved families have expressed grave concern over the official apathy and alleged that they have been made “a rolling stone” between the offices of the Sialkot district administration for the last two and half years.

 On August 04, 2015, the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) had targeted the civilian population during its unprovoked intensified mortar shelling on Sialkot border villages in Phookaliyaan-Bajwat Sector of the 193 KMs long Sialkot Working Boundary, killing three persons including two real brothers and injuring seriously sixteen other persons there.

 On August 04, 2015, Adnan Akhtar son of Muhammad Din (in village Kachhi Maand-Bajwat), two real brothers Muhammad Asif and Faisal Mehmood sons of Muhammad Akram in village Sukhiyaal-Phookaliyaan-Bajwat were killed by the heavy mortar shells fired by the Indian BSF.

While, sixteen other persons  Ali son of Muhammad Boota , Iqra daughter of Muhammad Akram,  Muhammad Qaisar son of Muhammad Akram , Fatima Bibi wife of Ali Raza (in village Sukhiyaal-Phookaliyaan-Bajwat), Muhammad Sadique  son of Khushi Muhammad, his wife  Shehnaz Bibi, Muhammad Waris son of Dil Muhammad (in village Kheri-Bajwat), Muhammad Younas son of Rahim Bukhash, his son Muhammad Hashir, daughters  Sehrish Bano and Bisma Younas (in village Kachhi Maand-Bajwat), Fazalaan Bibi  wife of Manzur Ahmed , Rasheeda Bibi  wife of  Aziz Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed son of  Allah Rakha, Kaneez Bibi wife of Muhammad Riaz and  Nasreen Bibi widow of  Mushtaq Ahmed(in village Looni-Kheri-Bajwat) were injured seriously during this Indian shelling.

Muhammad Akram revealed that his two sons  Muhammad Asif (13 years old) and Muhammad Faisal (11 years old) were martyred , when the several heavy mortar shells , fired by the Indian BSF, had badly hit the local government primary school in village Sukhiyaal-Phookaliyaan-Bajwat, killing both of these real brothers on the spot on August 04,2015.

 He said that her daughter Iqra Bibi was also discharged from the Sialkot CMH after her two-month long free medical treatment there. He said that some splinters of the Indian shells were still lying there in her belly due to which she had been suffering from severe pains and this poor family had no money for her medical treatment at any private hospital there. She was lying unable to walk as well.

Ch. Muhammad Azam (Chairman Union Council Kachhi Maand-Bajwat)  said that this poor family has knocked at almost all the doors for getting financial compensation but this skirmish by the family was still remaining fruitless despite the passage of two and half years.

He said that being the Chairman of this union council, had also raised this nasty issue in the recently held session of Sialkot District Council, seeking this council’s help to use its influence for ensuring the early provision of the financial compensations to the grieved families of these Indian shelling victims as well.

When contacted, the ADCG Sialkot Meesam Abbas told by telephone that no such cases were in his knowledge and no such case of financial compensation was lying pending here the Sialkot district administration offices as well.

On the other hand, when contacted, the local MNA Ch. Armughan Subhani told by telephone that it was true that the above-mentioned grieved families had been waiting for any financial compensation from both Punjab and Federal Governments for the last two and half years.

MNA said that he has repeatedly brought this matter into the notice of the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif but these families still remains unable to get financial compensation, in this regard.

 MNA Ch. Armughan Subhani said that the main reason behind this inordinate delay was the mis-coordination between the provincial and federal departments.

He said that the people martyred on injured by Indian shelling in Sialkot border villages along with above-mentioned families’ dear ones , in August 2015, have already got the financial compensations by the federal and provincial government.

The grieved families have urged the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbas and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to look into the matter and ensure the early provision of the financial compensations to them at earliest.
