LANDIKOTAL/ SWABI (ENN) Amid tight security arrangements, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) health department kicks off special 3-day anti polio vaccination campaign from Monday which would administer polio vaccines to one million children in all tribal agencies, officials informed.
Fata polio media relation officer Aqeel Khan told ENN that the special drive would continue from December 18 to 20th. He said total 4349 teams including 3964 mobile teams, 286 fixed teams and 99 transit teams have been constituted to provide polio drops to 1040281children below the age of 5 years.
He said vaccinators at transit points especially in Khyber, North Waziristan and South Waziristan Agencies were asked to remain vigilant and vaccinate every child under the age of five travelling to and from their respective agencies. In a recent Technical Advisory Group meeting held at Islamabad, progress against polio in Fata was widely appreciated by all stakeholders.
While talking to ENN’s Swabi correspondent, the District Health Officer Swabi Dr. Niaz Muhammad told that 267 thousand children will be vaccinated during recent drive. He told that 810 teams have been formed for a successful campaign.
