LANDIKOTAL (ENN) seven days anti-polio campaign, kicking off from Monday, will administer polio drops to an around one million children of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan, officials told ENN here on Sunday.
While sharing the details of campaign Coordinator Emergency Operations Center’ (EOC) Muhammad Zubair Khan told that it will start from Monday November 20, 2017 and will continue till for one week. He said all the political agents and commissioners have been directed to arrange foolproof security arrangements for the health team.
He further told that a total of 1040396 children below the age of five years will be immunized with polio drops by 4384 teams: comprising 3990 mobile teams, 293 fixed teams and 101 transit teams.
During the campaign, the health official said, they would also provide vitamin-A capsules to approximately 936356 children from the age of six months to five years across Fata.
Muhammad Zubair advised EOC Fata Team to ensure vaccination of all under five years’ old children in the area with focus on persistently missed and children on the move during anti-polio campaign”.
EOC FATA coordinator added that teams should concentrate on polio high risk areas and ensure reaching children in every nook and corner of the Fata.
While appreciating efforts of polio field workers Khan said dedication and commitment of polio field teams is remarkable.
“Fata is the only region which has achieved 2016-2017 National Emergency Action Plan (NEAP) target of 95% in at least three anti-polio campaigns (coverage for February, April and May 2017 was 96%, 95% and 97%, respectively” the official informed.
Talking to ENN Political Agent of Khyber Agency Khalid Mehmood said that they have completed homework to facilitate health teams in Landikotal, Bara and Jamrud tehsils of Khyber Agency. He said Khasadars and Levies personnel would also escort polio teams to provide them foolproof security during the anti-polio team.
