Former information Minister among 12 arrested: Sharjil got tense

On Monday National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi arrested 12 out of 14 accused  wanted in Reference No. 50/2016, followed by the cancellation of their interim bails by Sindh High Court, bench headed by Chief Justice.

Sharjil Memon, former information minister tried to save him from arrest by using various legal options and kept sitting in the premises of Sindh High Court over five hours and he kept contacting some influential party leaders but all in vein.He was taken into custody by Rangers who have arrived on the request of NAB.

Earlier some ministers and parliamentarians had arrived to extend support but he was seen very tense and disappointed.

He was seen smoking and cleaning sweat (wetness) and his eyes were continuously blinking as the signs of extreme tension.

The arrested 12 accused are facing the graft allegations of Rs. 5,766,479,766 (5766.479 Million) allegedly paid to seven advertising agencies for awareness campaigns between 2013 and 2015.

Among other arrested are Zulifqar Ali Shalwani, then Secretary Information and Archive department, Mansoor Ahmed Rajput, former Deputy Director Information (Advertisement) Information and Archives Department, Sarang Latif Chandio​, then Information Officer, of same department and Altaf Hussain Memon, the then Section Officer.

Rangers nabbed Asim Amir Khan Sikandar​, senior Executive director M/s Concepts Pvt.Ltd., Masood Hashmi, CEO of M/s. Orient Communication Pvt. Ltd.​, Gulzar Ali ​​​​​​​Director of M/s Adarts Karachi Pvt. Ltd. Salman Mansoor, Director of M/s Adarts Karachi Pvt. Ltd..Umar Shahzad​​​​​​ proprietor of Daily Milan​, Syed Naveed​​ Proprietor of M/s Media Power Link and Muhammad Hanif​​​​​​​, Company Secretary M/s Evernew Concepts Pvt. Ltd.

Sharjil tried to be given into judicial custody to prison instead of to be handed over to NAB or his arrest should be delayed as he can file application in supreme court but all efforts ended up with his arrest by Rangers.
