KARACHI (By Lala Hassan) Atleast 17 Hindu females have been converted during February and March months of the current year, tells human rights defender, who wishes not to be named due to security reasons.
While the administration of Bharchoondi Madersah claims that atleast 200 Hindus willfully changed their religion and become Muslims annually only at their seminary place.
According to details Lakshmi and Sonia from Karachi were converted; while Raveena and Reena two under age sisters from Daharki, Ghotki district are among converted during the mentioned period.
Lakshmi and Gawari from Tarai, Gaini Kolhi from Golarchi, Champa from Budho Qambrani, Malala Meghwar from Jam Khan Pitafi of Badin district, Komal of Tando Allahyar allegedly were forcibly converted.
He further told that Sonia Bheel from Hyderabad, Parmeela Maheshwari from Tando Muhammad Khan district and Sonia Kumari from Mirpur Khas districts were kidnapped and converted to Islam later.
However Lakshmi, Basheeran Kumari and Kareem Kumari of Salehpat, district Sukkur and Manta Bheel of Qambar @Shahdadkot were converted as well.
Krishan Kumar, Human Rights Defender while talking to ENN suggested issuing an executive order to stop free will on any issue for less than 18 years of age. He argued when under age cannot get Computerised Identity Card, not eligible for Vote and license etc then how he/she can be allowed to change religion or free will marriage?
He said various groups including internationally banned outfits have been allowed in Tharparkar to convert the Hindus which is worry something for locals here at Tharparkar.
Kumar suggested new social contract for all citizens of Pakistan by fundamental changes in the constitution of Pakistan.
It is important to note that majority of the men who converted females were already married with atleast two to five children. While the wives of men who converted two sisters of Daharki (Ghotki) left their homes protesting against the marriages of husbands.
There were reports of migration by Hindu families from Sindh due to continued conversion particularly young girls and kidnappings.
Renowned Scholar Maulana Azizullah Bohio while talking to ENN reporter Khadim Hussain said Islam focuses on the physical and mental maturity of person for marriage and that can be determined by Doctors.
He said Islam allows conversion to Muslims as well but it has nothing to do with marriage. Mr Bohio said conversion for marriage or any other financial benefit is not as per Islamic teachings.
Most of the converted females were under age or not over than 25 years of age; while men who performed marriages with those females claim that girls fell into love with them.
